OFX announce sponsorship of “The Moon” at Cork Midsummer Festival 2017

We are delighted to announce that OFX is proud sponsor of Museum of the Moon at this year’s Cork Midsummer Festival. ‘The Moon’ will be landing in Cork on Midsummer’s Day, where it will be housed in the Nexus Hall at CIT from June 21-23.

Museum of the Moon will be open to visitors from 9am to 8.30pm and admission is free.

What is Museum of the Moon?

Museum of the Moon is an internationally-touring work by UK artist Luke Jerram. Measuring seven metres in diameter, it features detailed NASA imagery of the lunar surface. At an approximate scale of 1:500,000, each centimetre of the sculpture represents 5km of the moon’s surface.

Audiences will have this wonderful opportunity to visit the moon as part of Cork Midsummer Festival, Cork’s largest annual multi-disciplinary arts festival, which takes place from June 16-25. Its arrival in Cork will coincide with the International Space University’s 30th Annual Space Studies Programme (SSP17), which will be hosted by CIT from June 26th – August 25th.

Meet Buzz Aldrin

People of all ages are invited to bask in the moonlight and experience an atmospheric soundtrack created by BAFTA and Ivor Novello award-winning composer, Dan Jones. As part of CIT’s Space Studies Programme, Buzz Aldrin, one of the first two humans to land on the moon, will give a public talk in front of the installation on Tuesday, June 27th at 7.30pm.
