OFX hosts Employment Law Breakfast Seminar with Hays Ireland
O’Flynn Exhams (OFX) Solicitors, in conjunction with Hays Ireland, hosted an Employment Law Breakfast Seminar on Thursday, 19th of September in the Clayton Hotel, Cork City.
From hiring employees to lawfully terminating contracts, the seminar gave the over 120 attendees specialist advice on recent changes in Irish legislation, an update on current trends and case law, and tips on the steps that organisations should undertake prior to planned new legislation.
The speakers at the event included Maureen Lynch, Director at Hays Recruitment, who gave expert insight into Diversity and Inclusion in the workplace. Next up was Judith Curtin, Senior Associate at OFX, who explored the Gender Pay Gap Information Bill 2019, including the steps your organisation should take in advance of the upcoming legislation.
Shane Crossan, Partner in the OFX Employment Law department, who discussed the topic of “no fault dismissals” and the recent move towards making employers liable for the criminal actions of their employees.
Concluding the discussions was keynote speaker Alan Haugh, barrister and deputy chairman of the Labour Court, who provided insights into the Employment (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2018 and its complications on new hires and your contracts of employment. Following the speakers, the floor was opened up to the audience for a Q&A session.
